Dr. Lorenz... EXPOSED!

After Mia confessing to Dr. Lorenz that she is Emma Engels, Lorenz was very shocked. After Mia trying to prove to her that she was the girl who survived that car crash, Lorenz still believes that she is an Ethics Committee Spy.

Throughout the episode Lorenz finds a moment to wear she can get a swipe of Mia's DNA. When she does, she takes it back to the lab, tests it, and realizes that it matches with Emma Engels. That clearly threw off Lorenz. One of the biggest issues that is seen throughout this show is the invasion of privacy that occurs. Sneaking into ones home to find DNA, or to swap someone's DNA while they sleep is such a bad thing to do to someone. Though through this info that Lorenz found, she came to realize that her research worked on Mia. While Mia is with Niklas, she has the idea that if she finds the modifications Lorenz made to her genome, she can find the other kids from the experiment.

While Lorenz is still mind blown at the fact that her research was correct, she starts looking at Mia's immune system which seems to be the most healthy and powerful immune system she has ever seen. Jasper then feeds Lorenz info on where Mia and Niklas went in the last episode which causes Lorenz to block Mia's key card access. Before Lorenz can do that Mia got into her office just in time to copy the files and get out. Right after she contacts her friend Chen Lu and tells her that she is going to need her help to search for synthetic DNA inside her that acts as a kind of genetic barcode. In other words, if Mia finds that bar code and puts it into Lorenz's database, she will find all of the patients that Lorenz worked on.

Niklas being the headcase that he is, meets Jasper and beats him up pretty bad and steals his key card. Mia and Niklas take the key card to get into the Excellence Center archive where Mia types in her gene barcode and it turns up hundreds of results. Results that include all of the horrific tests that Lorenz ran on some of the people. This is also another issue with surveillance technology. Later on here soon, Mia opened a storage unit after copying these files which sets off an alarm. Lorenz immediately runs and turns on the surveillance to see that the storage unit door has been left open. I think a big problem with surveillance connects with the issues of privacy. Where do you draw the line from surveillance to privacy? When is the surveillance too much to where it is invading someone's privacy? I think this show examines that question very well. There is so much invasion of privacy throughout this story, but yet the use of surveillance is also I believe over used to the point of an invasion of privacy and I think that is a very big issue.

Lorenz then gathers info through Jasper on what Mia and Niklas are up to, and he implies that they are getting on a train to Berlin that is leaving very soon. Lorenz stresses that if they get where they are going it will be the end for both her and Jasper. Lorenz has an idea, but will need Jasper's help. We then cut to the opening scene of the whole show, where the mosquitos are let loose that causes people to fall ill. We finally realize that Jasper got on that train and released the infectious mosquitos to make Niklas and Mia fall sick to try and stop them from getting Jasper and Lorenz in trouble. What will happen next?
